We all know the Rocky movie with Rocky at the top of the steps, right? Well, our idea for this year's Shofar cover is for our congregants to gather at the top of our atrium steps with arms raised, similar to Rocky at the top of the steps. We will pass out blue and white sweatbands for everyone, and you can wear either a white or blue tee shirt, and shorts if you want (since it's 100 degrees outside, we won't make you wear sweatpants and sweatshirts). We're going to take the picture Sunday morning, July 28th after minyan around 9:00, and after the picture, the Rabbi is going to make breakfast for everyone.
Call the office and let us know if you would like to participate in this fun picture.
Our morning minyan and Friday night minyan could use your help!
A number of our regulars are unable to attend due to illness, and some mornings we are not able to make 10 people. It's particularly important on Mondays and Thursdays when we read Torah, but there are people every day who need to say kaddish. We have also had a problem for the past couple of weeks making a minyan on Friday evenings. Please look at your schedule and pick one morning a week to come to our 7:30am minyan - it's only 30 - 60 minutes and you will be doing a mitzvah by allowing people the opportunity to say kaddish for a loved one. If you can't make the morning minyan, please come on a Friday evening at 5:30.

Have you ever wondered what happens to the old prayer books? Do you know what we do with them? We can't just throw them away, or recycle them, because they have the word of God in them. These prayer books have to be buried in a grave at the cemetery.
On August 18th we will have a book burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 11:00am. The Rabbi will lead the burial and you can participate. There will be a breakfast beginning at 9:00 after minyan and then we will leave the synagogue and go to Forest Lawn.
Please call the office and let us know if you would like to participate in this book burial.
