Please join us for a kiddush luncheon on the Evelyn Eisenberg Atrium following Shabbat services,

Rabbi Panitz will have regular office hours on Tuesdays from 9:15am until noon.
On Sunday evening, June 9th, we are honoring the memory of the late Jodie Rafalowitz, taken from us many years too soon. Jodie herself joined the congregation when one of her own sisters had died, and a feature of Jodie’s affiliation was her sponsorship of yahrzeit study sessions. In her memory, we will hold a second night of Shavuot study session. I will explain why Jodie was fascinated by the Psalm text, “The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone”, and the allegorical short story that she wrote based on that text. Please join us and enjoy our varied menu of learning as well as of dining. RSVP by June 4th.

PLEASE RSVP BY TUESDAY, JUNE 4TH!
The deadline for the Flower Fund Appeal has been extended to the end of May, which is tomorrow! But you still have time to complete the form and get it in the mail! Please make a donation in honor of someone, in memory of someone, or just a donation for no particular reason. The money collected from the Flower Fund Appeal is what enables us to have the beautiful flowers on the bimah during the holidays. We thank the Sisterhood for having this appeal every year and arranging for the bimah flowers, which add so much to our holidays.

OUR 2019 MITZVAH OF THE SUMMER
009
We will once again be collecting school supplies for Granby Elementary. They must be plain - no logos or characters on them. Please bring your donations to the synagogue office by August 26th so we have time to get everything to Granby Elementary.
This is such an important mitzvah - the principal, the staff, and more importantly, the children and their families, are so appreciative of these supplies, as many of the families don't have the funds to purchase school supplies for their children.

If you have mobility issues we'd like to hear from you!
004
Is a lack of mobility keeping you or any other Temple Israel congregant that you know of from coming to religious services or other planned events? If so, we'd like to hear from you. The Temple Israel Board would like to discuss and put together plans to make it easier for those in our congregation who need help getting here. Please call 489-4550 or e-mail us at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to let us know your concerns and how we can help. We want to make the best plan possible, and that depends on your input!

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS AVAILABLE AT TEMPLE ISRAEL

There are several endowment funds at Temple Israel that are for the benefit of Jewish Education, Jewish Camping, Israel Trips and other Jewish Experiential Programs. Some of these grants are now available for any age, including adults. These funds include the Alfred and Herbert Legum Memorial Fund, the Sanford Lefcoe Scholarship Fund and the Snyder Education Fund. Needs basis is given first priority.
If interested in applying for a grant, please contact the synagogue office.
minyan

Our morning minyan and Friday night minyan could use your help!

A number of our regulars are unable to attend due to illness, and some mornings we are not able to make 10 people. It's particularly important on Mondays and Thursdays when we read Torah, but there are people every day who need to say kaddish. We have also had a problem for the past couple of weeks making a minyan on Friday evenings. Please look at your schedule and pick one morning a week to come to our 7:30am minyan - it's only 30 - 60 minutes and you will be doing a mitzvah by allowing people the opportunity to say kaddish for a loved one. If you can't make the morning minyan, please come on a Friday evening at 5:30.

If you would like to be a shomer, please give the office a call so we can add you to the list. Shomrim sit with a deceased after they have been shrouded and before the funeral so that they are never alone. If you would like more information, please give the office a call at 489-4550.

LADIES, PLEASE DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD MASCARA - BRING IT TO OUR OFFICE SO WE CAN CLEAN THE BRUSHES AND PASS IT ALONG TO THE WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR WHO WILL USE THEM TO CLEAN THE BABY ANIMALS SHE GETS. SHE CAN ALSO USE PUPPY PIDDLE PADS AND 75 WATT INFRARED LIGHT BULBS.

WE WILL COLLECT THESE ITEMS ALL YEAR, SO PLEASE DROP THEM OFF AT THE OFFICE.

The next time you're at the synagogue, be sure to look at our Pet Memorial Board.
It's located on the stair wall as you go up to Brody Auditorium.
It's a wonderful way to remember your beloved pet.

The Men's Chevra Kaddisha is looking for volunteers.

Participating on the Chevra Kaddisha is the highest form of a mitzvah you can perform. You are the last contact the deceased has before the funeral and you are the one who ensures they have a proper Jewish burial. It is one of the most rewarding acts you will ever do. If you are interested, or have questions, please contact Larry Stein.

As we have done for the past few years, when summer arrives, we move Shabbat services from the sanctuary. We have moved to Brody Auditorium but this year, we are going to try having services on the atrium. It's so beautiful, we thought this would be a lovely setting for Shabbat services. At the end of the summer, we welcome your feedback as to your preference of Brody Auditorium or the Evelyn Eisenberg Atrium.

These are the yahrzeits for the coming week. Please read through them. If you see someone you recognize, come to minyan. As a community, it is our honor to remember.
