We are back in-person for Shabbat services at 9:30am.  Therefore, Shabbat services will only be live streamed, and not on Zoom!  Please note, if you will be attending in-person services, you must be vaccinated and you must wear a mask while in the building.

Daily minyan will be on Zoom at the number/link below.  Services via Zoom.us will be Sunday - Friday at 8:00am and 5:30pm

There will be a kiddush luncheon following services,  in Brody auditorium sponsored by Andrew Bernstein, in honor of the 28th anniversary of his Bar Mitzvah.  Please keep your mask on until you are seated, and if you get up from your table, please put your mask back on.
In observance of Juneteeth, the office will be closed on Monday, June 20th.  We will reopen on Tuesday at 9:00am

There is an interesting exhibit at the Chrysler Museum from now through August - The Guiding Hand - The Barr Foundation Collection of Torah Pointers


Clay Barr, the owner of the collection, will be providing a private tour for members of Temple Israel on Sunday, June 26th at 2:00pm.  Please call the office if you would like to be a part of this private tour.  Space is limited.

YEP, IT'S TIME FOR TIDES BASEBALL
The Men's Club is going to a Tides baseball game on June 30th at 12:05pm
Tickets are $10 - please make your check payable to the Temple Israel Men's Club and mail in to the Temple Israel office.
Please call the office to RSVP. 

And please let us know if you have any unused tickets that we can exchange for the game so we can keep this free for everyone.


Keep an eye on your mailbox for this year's Sisterhood Floral fund opportunity.  All forms and money should go to Paula Gordon.  The deadline has been extended to June 20th.
The money from your contributions provide the beautiful flowers for our bimah during the High Holidays.
There will be an unveiling for Harriet Dickman on July 24th at 10:00am at Forest Lawn Cemetery.  Anyone who knew Harriet is invited to the unveiling.

We want to celebrate the graduate in your family!  Send us pictures and information so we can kvell along with  you!

The Zelma G. Rivin Wonderful Wednesdays Summer Music Series starts
 Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 7:00 p.m. featuring  Soprano, Billye Brown Youmans and 
Valetta Fellenbaum on piano. This concert will be the first of four performances in the music series.  Tickets can be purchased at  www.jewishmuseumportsmouth.org. The 
cost of each performance is $20 and all four events can be purchased for $75. Otherwise tickets sell for $25 at the door. Each event is held at The Jewish Museum and Cultural 
Center located at 607 Effingham Street in Portsmouth, VA.

LADIES, PLEASE DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD MASCARA - BRING IT TO OUR OFFICE SO WE CAN CLEAN THE BRUSHES AND PASS IT ALONG TO THE WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR WHO WILL USE THEM TO CLEAN THE BABY ANIMALS SHE GETS.  SHE CAN ALSO USE PUPPY PIDDLE PADS AND 75 WATT INFRARED LIGHT BULBS. 

WE WILL COLLECT THESE ITEMS ALL YEAR, SO PLEASE DROP THEM OFF AT THE OFFICE.
The next time you're at the synagogue, be sure to look at our Pet Memorial Board.  It's located on the stair wall as you go up to Brody Auditorium. 
It's a wonderful way to remember your beloved pet.
