IN-PERSON SHABBAT SERVICES ARE COMING BACK

Have you missed in-person services and seeing your friends at the synagogue? Well, if so, you will be happy to know that we are bringing back in-person services on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of each month. Services will also be live streamed and on Zoom for those who are still not comfortable coming back, or who are unable to come to in-person services. Our next in-person services will be June 19th.

To attend services, you will have to sign up by the Thursday prior to Shabbat using this link with Sign Up Genius, or call the office, sign a waiver if you have not already signed one, show proof of vaccination, and continue to socially distance. Wearing a mask is no longer required, but you may still wear one if you're more comfortable. When services are over, you will be asked to leave your prayer book in your seat so we will know which seats need to be sanitized.

Also, there will only be one Zoom number for all services, rather than a different number for Shabbat services and a different number for minyan services. That Zoom information is as follows:

Meeting ID - 674-044-866
Password - 296993

Or click HERE for the link

We look forward to seeing you on June 19th.

Did you know you can access our monthly bulletin on our website - templeisraelva.org?

We know the mail has not been the best lately and we've heard that some bulletins haven't made it to some members' homes. If so, here's the link to the bulletin on our website.

https://templeisraelva.org/bulletin-of-temple-activities

Just copy and paste the above link into your browser and hit "Enter". Or simply go to our website - templeisraelva.org - go all the way to the bottom right of the home page, and you will see "Bulletin of Temple activities".

IT'S GRADUATION TIME!

004
Please send us your graduation announcements and pictures for your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, or just friends. We want them all - from pre-school to grad school!

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the response so far for this "Bare Necessities" drive for JFS. You, our members, are amazing! Please continue to bring items during the week, or you can wait to bring your items on Sunday, June 27th.

We will continue to collect supplies for the JFS pantry. They are always in need of toiletries and food, as the people who utilize their pantry don't just come one time - they come on a weekly basis for the assistance this pantry provides. And because of that, JFS is constantly in need of items to replenish their pantry. So we will continue to collect supplies at different intervals throughout the year. To help us with each of our drives, each time you go to the grocery store, pick up an extra box of pasta, or can of something, or an extra roll of paper towels or toilet paper - that way, by the time our next drive comes along, you'll already have a nice box of items to donate.

Again, thank you so much for your support of JFS and your generosity.

Bringing To Life Back To Life

The Holocaust Commission of the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater is in the process of updating To Life: Stories of Courage and Survival, a collection of 67 personal stories published in 2002.

A large number of the individuals in the book have passed away, and the Commission is looking for additional information that might update and/or add to their original stories. We are also looking for updated photos, both of those profiled in the book, featured alone or with family members.

In addition to updating existing stories, the Commission is interested in adding accounts unrecorded in the previous edition. Also welcome are stories of local rescuers and Righteous Gentiles not previously known to the Commission.

If you have information to share, please contact Elka Mednick at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

The office is now open from 10:00am - 2:00pm, Monday - Friday.
