TEMPLE ISRAEL WILL BE HAVING A FOOD DRIVE ON SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 8TH FROM 11:00AM - 1:00PM. WE WILL HAVE THREE (3) DROP-OFF LOCATIONS

1.) TEMPLE ISRAEL
7255 GRANBY STREET, NORFOLK

2.) REUVEN AND JUDY ROHN'S HOME

3.) THE OCEANFRONT AT 4004 ATLANTIC AVENUE

This food drive is to benefit the Jewish Family Service food pantry. They are in dire need of supplies. Please go to the store and buy some non-perishable items and drop them at one of the three locations. They will be so appreciative!

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR OUR FOOD DRIVE!!!!

In addition to our November 8TH Date, UNO PIZZA AT 5900 EAST VIRGINIA BEACH BOULEVARD has been kind enough to allow us to collect food there, BEGINNING MONDAY, OCTOBER 12TH THROUGH NOVEMBER 8TH. If you donate cans of food at this location, you will receive a $5 OFF COUPON FOR UNO!

PLEASE continue to mail in your dues payments. Even though our staff is not in the building for 8 hours a day each week, the building has not been shut down - it is still using the utilities and we still have bills. Your dues payments allow us to continue to be able to pay our employees who are still working remotely and pay our everyday bills.
Thank you!
Please remember to contact the office if you change your phone number, drop your land line, change your email address, or move.
Thank you!

Please remember to fill your tzedakah boxes at home while we are not having minyan services in the building. Once we come back into the building, you can bring the money you collected and we will apply it towards our minyan fund. Or, you can send a check in and specify it's for the minyan fund. The money that is collected during our minyan services is donated to many needy causes. Now, more than ever, there is a huge need for donations to these causes. Please remember there are people who are going hungry and have lost their jobs because of this coronavirus and they need our help.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE NOTES
PLEASE note - if you forward the Notes From The Shul to someone who doesn't receive them and they hit the "Unsubscribe" button at the bottom of the email, they are unsubscribing YOU from the email list and you will no long receive The Notes. So, if there's information in The Notes you want someone to see, please let them know not to hit the "Unsubscribe" button so they don't inadvertently take you off our email list.

LADIES, PLEASE DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR OLD MASCARA - BRING IT TO OUR OFFICE SO WE CAN CLEAN THE BRUSHES AND PASS IT ALONG TO THE WILDLIFE REHABILITATOR WHO WILL USE THEM TO CLEAN THE BABY ANIMALS SHE GETS. SHE CAN ALSO USE PUPPY PIDDLE PADS AND 75 WATT INFRARED LIGHT BULBS.

WE WILL COLLECT THESE ITEMS ALL YEAR, SO PLEASE DROP THEM OFF AT THE OFFICE.

The next time you're at the synagogue, be sure to look at our Pet Memorial Board.
It's located on the stair wall as you go up to Brody Auditorium.
It's a wonderful way to remember your beloved pet.

The Men's Chevra Kaddisha is looking for volunteers.

Participating on the Chevra Kaddisha is the highest form of a mitzvah you can perform. You are the last contact the deceased has before the funeral and you are the one who ensures they have a proper Jewish burial. It is one of the most rewarding acts you will ever do. If you are interested, or have questions, please contact Larry Stein.

For $18.00, you can plant a tree in Israel
IN HONOR of a family member, friend, group or event
OR
IN MEMORY of a family member or friend

Make your check payable to Temple Israel with a note that it is for the JNF Tree Center and who/what it is IN HONOR of or IN MEMORY of. If you go to their website, www.jnf.org/jnf-tree-planting-center, you can select a certificate/tree location. If you would like a specific certificate or location, let us know when you send in your check. We will send JNF everyone's requests.

For something completely different, you can plant a grapevine for someone, just as you would plant a tree.

Plant a tree

Plant a vine in Israel.

Do good today!

Wine on the Vine (WOTV) is an exciting new way to:

Give to truly remarkable charities in Israel
Assist the rebirth of Israel’s ancient winemaking tradition
Organically and physically connect to the Land of Israel
Support Israel’s cultural outreach to the world

All contributions are tax-deductible for US tax-payers.

For more information, go to www.wineonthevine.org

These are the yahrzeits for the coming week. Please read through them. If you see someone you recognize, come to minyan. As a community, it is our honor to remember.
